Guernsey’s most relaxed, informal, and most of all – fun, dive school.
Donkey Divers was set up by Steve Bougourd and his wife Helen in 2008, after Steve qualified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor earlier in the year.
Steve is known for his patience and will work at your own pace, never rushing you into something you’re not comfortable with. He is friendly, open and relaxed and keen to make sure your training is safe and enjoyable.
Steve worked for years as a joiner in the local building industry before deciding to concentrate on one of the biggest loves in his life, diving. Having spent many years diving, both locally and on a number of holidays in the Red Sea, he decided that it was time to share the amazing experience that is scuba diving with the rest of the island.
Steve has a tremendous passion for diving and natural ability as an instructor, his enthusiasm and interest is infectious to all who meet him. Just be careful if you start him talking about diving – you may not be able to get him to stop!
Outside of diving, Steve is a keen runner, and runs competitively with the Guernsey Amateur Athletics Club on a regular basis, running for the club “Super Veteran” cross country team in the inter-insular in Jersey in 2008 and again in Guernsey in 2009, being a part of the winning team. He successfully completed the London Marathon in 2009, raising funds for the Round Table Children’s Wish charity.
He is also well known locally as a musician and singer, and still occasionally plays the guitar and sings for a local band called, The Elasticband.
